Asia Real Estate People in the News 2022-10-10

Developers, pension funds and data centres lead this week’s wave of personnel news as a mainland logistics firm appoints a member of the New World clan to its board, British Columbia’s Quadreal introduces a new head of research for the region and SC Capital Partners’ digital infrastructure unit names a new investment decision-maker. Also making the list are moves at Partners Group, CapitaLand and JLL.

JD Logistics announced recently that it has named Jennifer Ngar Wing Yu to its board as an independent, non-executive director with effect from 29 September. Also known as Jennifer Cheng, JD’s new board member replaces Carol Yun Yau Li who resigned from the same date. Touted as an education entrepreneur, Cheng serves as group president and deputy vice chairwoman of Chow Tai Fook Education Group where her husband, Adrian Cheng is vice chairman and chief executive while father-in-law Henry Cheng fills the chairman’s seat.

Juliet ChaQuadreal Property Group announced on 5 October that it has hired Juliet Cha as vice president for research and strategy for Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Cha will lead research for the real estate investment division of British Columbia Investment Management after 11 years at CBRE Investment Management (formerly CBRE Global Investors). The graduate of the University of Aberdeen also has experience with ING Real Estate in Seoul and with Colliers.

Lip Hong Yeo SCLip Hong Yeo has joined SC Zeus Data Centers in Singapore as vice president for investment management, according to a LinkedIn update. Yeo joined the digital infrastructure division of SC Capital Partners last month after just over a year with CBRE in the city, where he had served as senior director with the data centre solutions division of the company’s advisory and transactions division since May 2021. Yeo also has previous experience with BDx Data Centres and Telstra.

Wang QilinWang Qilin has joined Partners Group in Singapore as an investment leader with the fund manager. According to a LinkedIn update, Wang is responsible for real estate private equity investments in Asia Pacific with the division of Anglo-American financial service giant Aon, after serving more than seven years with PGIM Real Estate in the city. Wang also has previous experience with CapitaLand Mall Asia and Mapletree Investments.

Wenpei YouWenpei You has joined CapitaLand China Trust Management in Singapore, where he now serves as AVP for investment and portfolio management, according to a LinkedIn update. You signed up for his new role after a half-year stint as head of investment and portfolio management with mainland developer Seazen Holdings. The graduate of Peking University also served 10 months at SF REIT after earlier roles at Mapletree and Hines.

Terry Wong, JLL SingaporeJLL said on 4 October that it has appointed Terry Wong as senior director for capital markets with its Singapore team, where he will report to Ting Lim. Wong will be responsible for clients looking to expand investments and offerings in the Singapore’s mid-market space, according to the statement, after spending just less than a year in business development with Q Investment Partners. Also joining JLL’s Singapore capital markets team is Alaric Yeo, who comes on board as a senior manager.

Cyrus-Fong-方耀明Knight Frank announced on 6 October that it has promoted Cyrus Fong (pictured) to senior director and head of valuation and advisory services for its Hong Kong business. Also promoted is Nathan Chan, who moves up to director and head of industrial services for the city. Fong has now been with the property consultancy since 2016 while Chan joined the company as a senior manager in 2019 before being promoted associate director in 2021.

YangJames Yang Weizheng has joined Galaxy Entertainment in Macao as a senior vice president in the marketing department, according to a LinkedIn announcement. Yang took on his new role with the casino operator this month after more than three years with New World Development’s K11 Concepts division where he served as a general manager responsible for digital marketing. The graduate of Taiwan’s Fu Jen Catholic University also has previous experience with Publicis and Grey Group.
