‘Dancing With the Stars’ Fans Question Wayne Brady and Witney Partnership

Some Dancing With the Stars have questioned Wayne Brady‘s partnership with professional dancer Witney Carson.

The pair are coupled up on season 31 of the Disney+ ballroom competition and have been impressing judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli with their performances so far.

But some social-media users have wondered if something has happened between Brady, 50, and Carson, 29, after the actor and comedian showed up on the DWTS Instagram stories alone.

Typically, ahead of an episode, the show’s couples will appear on the official Instagram to get fans excited for the upcoming edition.

On Sunday, November 6, videos of couples such as Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart, and Shangela and Gleb Savchenko were uploaded, showing the pairs answering trivia about the ’90s, in keeping with this week’s “throwback”-themed episode.

Brady, however, appeared in his videos alone, leading fans to question if everything was fine between him and Carson, who won DWTS in 2014 with the show’s now-co-host Alfonso Ribeiro, 51.

User realitytv2734 started the discussion on Reddit: “Does anyone find it weird [Wayne] was doing stories alone today while answering questions? something seems off about their partnership but maybe it’s just because Witney is busy this season being a mom, etc.”

Carson welcomed her son Leo, her first child, on January 3, 2021, with husband Carson McAllister, and one fan argued that she could have missed filming the stories because she was spending time with them.

Others suggested something had gone awry with the duo, as bubblygiraffe88 posted: “There’s something amiss with them…and I went into this season thinking Wayne and Witney would win but I’m starting to think Wayne will be a shocking [elimination] now or place like 4th.

“Something is missing and while he came out swinging, Gabby [Windey] and Shangela are starting to pass him in the rankings, for me now.”

Redditor own-match-5637 added: “I always try to ‘defend’ their partnership because we obviously don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, but I have to agree that seeing Wayne alone on these stories made me feel weird. Like these stories get made to make fans see the tight bond their fav couples have.

“You mentioned Witney being a mom and yes maybe because having a toddler is far more exhausting than having a baby (like last year when Leo was just a baby).”

However, another Reddit user sadiegirl099 wrote: “Honestly we could just be reading into it lol I’m sure Witney is doing something else or something,” as invader_holly agreed: “Well if you saw their stories the other day they both posted a really cute BTS (behind the scenes)…”

Newsweek has contacted representatives for Brady and Carson for comment.

Last week on DWTS fans were left divided when singer Jordin Sparks and her partner, Brandon Armstrong, were sent home.

Once the judges’ scores were combined with the public votes, the bottom-two couples were revealed as Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev, and Sparks and Armstrong.

The judges vote ended in a tie, but head judge Goodman voted again to save D’Amelio and Chigvintsev, sending Sparks and Armstrong home.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Disney+. Episodes will be available to stream an hour after their original airing.
