Australian businessmen John Mullen has been named the new chairman of Qantas and will assume the role on July 1.

Airlineratings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas says Mr Mullen has an “extensive background” in logistics.

“He was CEO of TNT Express based in Europe,” he told Sky News Australia.

“He’s also been the head of DHL Global Express Operations for a number of a year.”

Mr Mullen will be replacing Richard Goyder, who retired last year.
