The top men’s curling teams from across the globe will head to Moose Jaw next year, as was announced by Curling Canada on Friday
The top men’s curling teams in the world are coming to Moose Jaw next year.
On Friday, Curling Canada announced that the Moose Jaw Events Centre has been named the host site for the 2025 BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship, set for March 29 to April 6, 2025.

“It’s always great to come to Saskatchewan,” Curling Canada CEO Nolan Thiessen told media during a news conference on Friday in Regina, which is currently playing host to the 2024 Montana’s Brier.

“We’ve had amazing events in Moose Jaw before. This is the first time they’ve put their name forward and made a bid on the world men’s and I think it’s going to be so exciting to be there.”
While Regina hosted the world men’s curling championships in 1973, 1983 and 2011, this will be the first time Moose Jaw will play host to the event. However, the city is no stranger to hosting major curling events including the 1983 world women’s championship. More recently, Moose Jaw also hosted the Canadian women’s championship, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, in 2015 and 2020.
Moose Jaw was also the host city for the 2023 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championships. This year’s championship will also be held in the city.
“All the teams from all over love coming to Canada and love coming to a place like Moose Jaw because it’s just such a big deal and they feel like rockstars for the week,” said Thiessen, a three-time Brier champion and 2010 world champion.
Curling Canada has an agreement with the World Curling Federation which awards Canada host rights every year for either the world men’s or world women’s championships on an alternating basis,

Following the 2024 Montana’s Brier in Regina this week, the champion of this year’s event will head to Switzerland at the end of March as Team Canada. The world women’s championship is being held in Nova Scotia this year.
The team that will represent Canada in Moose Jaw next year will be determined in Kelowna, as that city will play host to the 2025 Montana’s Brier.
Not only will the world championship be on the line, but the event will go determine who will qualify for the 2016 Winter Olympics as the top seven teams from the event will earn a berth, joining host Italy. The final two Olympic spots will be decided at the Olympic Qualification Event in December 2025.
Canada has won 35 world championships in the event’s history but the last gold medal at worlds came in 2017 when Brad Gushue and the Canadian squad won in Edmonton.
