Livestock carrier vessel Al Kuwait, dubbed the “death ship” by animal rights activists, has finally left Cape Town Harbour, according to the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA).

The vessel, which departed on Wednesday morning, caused a stir in Cape Town due to the pungent smell that emanated from it.

There were about 19 000 heads of cattle aboard it when it docked at the harbour on Sunday night.
