Price cuts have little effect on Tesla’s April sales in China

Tesla’s electric vehicle sales have seen little impact from repeated price cuts in China since late last year, with the company shipping 75,842 units from its Shanghai factory in April, according to figures from the China Passenger Car Association. The industry group has not yet provided a breakdown of wholesale figures for local sales or export, although it has said that the total was 15% lower than the previous month and failed to meet the average monthly production rate of 90,000 units. On Jan. 6, the US automaker reduced the prices of its Model Y and Model 3 by up to RMB 48,000 and RMB 36,000 ($7,088 and $5,316), following a reduction of RMB 28,000 for some Model Y variants in October.
