‘Welcome To Wrexham’: Release date announced for Ryan Reynolds football series
Welcome To Wrexham, the highly anticipated sports documentary about Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s acquisition of Wrexham AFC, will hit Disney+ on 25 August.
Airing on Hulu in America, the series sees the Hollywood stars taking ownership of the Welsh town’s historic yet struggling football club.
Reynolds and McElhenney bought the oldest club in Welsh football in November, 2020 with the deal completing in February 2021.

Since taking over the club, the pair have been filming a reality show about the team which reached the National League play-off semi-finals in the 2021-22 season, and the final of the 2022 FA Trophy.
The news comes with a raft of announcements by Disney+ about new titles coming to the UK streaming platform in 2022 and 2023.
Also announced was psychological thriller The Patient starring Steve Carell and Domhnall Gleeson. In this limited series, Carell plays a psychotherapist who finds himself being held prisoner by a serial killer.

Other titles confirmed include Fleishman is in Trouble, based on the New York Times bestselling novel and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Lizzy Caplan, Claire Danes, and Adam Brody; and Welcome to Chippendales starring Kumail Nanjiani.
The Chippendales series tells the true story behind the famous male revue show and stars Nanjiani as founder Somen ‘Steve’ Banerjee. “People don’t know that the real story of it is really wild,” Nanjiani told People. “Some really surprising stuff happened, and it’s surprising that people don’t really know about it.”
“The behind-the-scenes stuff that happens is crazy. It’s enough for, like, 10 podcasts.”
Disney+ has also been confirmed as the UK streaming home for Mike, the show which tells the story of the dynamic and controversial life of boxing icon Mike Tyson, starring Trevante Rhodes.
Also joining line-up over the next 12 months are UK originals including Wedding Season, Extraordinary, and David Beckham’s docuseries Save Our Squad. Plus, new seasons of American Horror Stories (Season 2) and Reservation Dogs (Season 2) are coming soon.
New movies making their debut this year include The Princess starring Joey King on 1 July, Not Okay on 29 July, Prey, an all-new entry in the Predator franchise on 5 August, and Rosaline starring Kaitlyn Dever later this year.
